GRA Kenya: how to check a betting licence and website
GRA in this guide means the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya. If you want to check a betting website, match the company, trading name, activity, period and exact domain in the relevant source. A logo or a working payment button cannot answer all five questions.

Start with the original record and its date
Open the GRA licensed-operators page. The text retrieved during our 10 September 2026 review carried a 2025/26 trading-period heading. That is a date boundary, not evidence of automatic renewal for a later period. If the source cannot be reached or does not cover the period you need, leave that point unresolved until you can consult an appropriate current record.
Do not infer that an operator has no licence merely because it is absent from a small selection on an affiliate website. Equally, do not turn an old listing into an undated “licensed today” label.
Read the fields together

The table uses separate activity columns such as BK, PG and PL. Preserve their labels and values when recording an entry; a value in one column does not answer a question about a different activity. If you do not understand a code or a status, consult the source’s explanation rather than guessing.
Worked example: the name matches, but the address does not
This is a fictional example, not an operator or a licence assessment. Suppose a record connects Example Gaming Ltd, ExampleBet and examplebet.example. A message then sends you to examplebet-bonus.example.
The shared word “ExampleBet” has not established a match. Compare the second site’s terms with the company and domain in the record. Do not copy the first address’s licence details onto the second address’s profile. A redirect also needs to be understood: record the host that actually opens, not only the text of the original link.
The same principle applies when a brand has a country-specific website and an international service. Establish the relationship and the applicable terms before treating their accounts or legal records as interchangeable.
A useful record takes five lines
- The source URL and the date you consulted it.
- The period stated by the source.
- The company and trading name, copied accurately.
- The relevant activity and status as published.
- The source domain and the final host opened in your browser.
Keep that record with the account terms if you later need to explain what you relied on. It does not need a password, identity-document scan or M-PESA PIN.
After the licence check

Does a company match establish that every app is covered?
No. Check the app’s publisher, website and service terms as well as the company name. A forwarded installation file supplies none of that evidence by itself.
